Harsh Goenka Questions Selective Justice in
Vijay Mallya Case

In a provocative post addressing the highly publicised case of Vijay Mallya,

the businessman once known as the "king of good times," Harsh Goenka has

raised important questions about fairness in financial accountability. Goenka

acknowledged Mallya’s lavish lifestyle and his significant defaults, totalling

over Rs 9,000 crore, but pointed out that reports suggest these dues are now

settled.

In his commentary, Goenka highlighted a troubling disparity: “Meanwhile,

bigger defaulters walk free with much fatter haircuts from banks.” He called

for transparency from financial institutions, insisting that if debts remain,

banks should make this clear. Conversely, he questioned, “If not, why is he

still a political punching bag?”

Goenka emphasised the need for justice to be equitable and not selective,

calling into question the broader implications of Mallya’s ongoing scrutiny in

contrast to other defaulters. As the debate heats up, observers are calling for

a reassessment of the policies governing financial accountability and the

treatment of high-profile cases. Stay tuned for further developments on this

unfolding story.
